The cutting speed of the steel sheet corresponds to the burning speed of the steel in oxygen. In actual production, the cutting speed should be adjusted according to the performance parameters of the cutting nozzle used, the type and purity of the gas, the material and thickness of the steel plate. The cutting speed directly affects the stability of the cutting process and the quality of the cutting section. If you want to artificially increase the cutting speed to improve production efficiency and use the deceleration cutting speed to best improve the quality of the section, it can not be achieved, and only the quality of the cutting section can be deteriorated. Too fast cutting speed will cause defects such as depression and slag in the cutting section, which may cause cutting end. The slow cutting speed will cause the upper edge of the slit to melt and collapse, the lower edge to be rounded, and the lower half of the cutting section. Some of the deep groove pits with water jets appear and so on.

By observing the characteristics of the slag ejected from the slit, it is possible to adjust to a suitable cutting speed. During normal flame cutting, the cutting oxygen flow is slightly behind the angle of the cutting torch, and the corresponding offset is called the rear drag. When the speed is too low, there is a back amount, and the fire bouquet at the cutting edge below the workpiece is offset in the cutting direction. If the speed of the torch is increased, the fire bouquet will shift in the opposite direction. When the fire bouquet is parallel to the cutting oxygen flow, the cutting speed is considered normal. When the speed is too high, the fire bouquet is obviously backward.
